Who doesn't love Spring cleaning right!? BUT what about an Early Summer touch up!! I like June for the opportunity to rejuvenate a Living Space because after all, it is an extension of our health. While we often focus on visible clutter and dirt, numerous hidden areas in our homes can harbor allergens, bacteria, and other health hazards. Let me delve into these often-overlooked spots and discover how addressing them can enhance your well-being.

1. Ceiling Fans and Light Fixtures

Out of sight, out of mind—until you switch them on. Dust accumulates on fan blades and light fixtures, dispersing allergens throughout the room when activated. Regularly wiping them down can significantly improve indoor air quality.

2. Window Tracks and Blinds

While we might clean window panes, the tracks and blinds often go unnoticed. These areas can collect dust, pollen, and mold, especially in humid conditions. A thorough cleaning can prevent respiratory irritants from circulating in your home.

3. Air Filters

Your HVAC system's filters trap dust, pet dander, and other particles. Neglecting to change them can lead to poor air quality and strain the system. Depending on usage and household factors, it's advisable to check and replace filters every 1–3 months .

4. Shower Curtains and Liners

Constant exposure to moisture makes shower curtains and liners breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Regular washing or replacing them can prevent potential skin irritations and respiratory issues.

5. Drains

Bathroom and kitchen drains can accumulate organic matter, leading to unpleasant odors and bacterial growth. A monthly cleanse using natural solutions like baking soda and vinegar followed by boiling water can keep them clear and hygienic.

6. Refrigerator Coils and Underside

The back and bottom of your refrigerator can collect dust and debris, affecting its efficiency and potentially leading to overheating. Cleaning these areas ensures optimal performance and reduces energy consumption.

7. Behind and Under Furniture

These hidden spots are magnets for dust, pet hair, and allergens. Moving furniture periodically to vacuum and clean these areas can make a noticeable difference in air quality.

8. Baseboards and Door Frames

Often overlooked, these areas can collect dust and grime. Regular wiping can prevent buildup and maintain a cleaner environment.

9. Remote Controls and Light Switches

High-touch surfaces like remotes and switches can harbor germs and bacteria. Disinfecting them regularly can reduce the spread of illnesses.

10. Pet Accessories

Items like pet beds, toys, and feeding bowls can accumulate dirt and bacteria. Regular cleaning ensures a healthier environment for both pets and humans.
